I know a large amount of people who for some reason have a huge obsession with dubstep and electronic music in general. I don’t understand it. It’s just not music. It takes tons of talent to create electronic music, but it’s not genuine music. I feel like when there’s no use of real audio…
I love it when somebody who doesnt know the scene, talk about rave and electronic culture. Yes, most electronic music is made on laptops and the sort, but they do sometimes have instruments, Skrillex had the fucking Doors on a song and they played guitar, keyboard, and some percussion. Not to mention Korn just made a dubstep album, that in all honesty, isnt all that bad. Not every performer at an electronic show is a DJ. Nero, deadmau5, EOTO, Pendulum and Adventure Club are all electronic acts that actually plays live instruments in their acts. I still pay money to see DJs play too, mixing takes a lot of talent, it isnt just twisting knobs and pressing buttons. Finding songs that fit together well and playing them in a way where people dont lose the groove is actually kinda hard. Oh I you see made a point about the lyrics in your hardcore section…..electronic music has some of the most meaningful lyrics I have ever heard, seriously listen to Above and Beyond, Kaskade, Flux Pavilion, Nero, Armin Van Buuren, etcetc they have lyrics in their music that actually means something to a lot to people in the electronic scene. Electronic shows aren’t just about getting fucked up on drugs. Its all about he PLUR (peace love unity and respect). We go to share our love for the music, make new friends, and just have a good time. And most of the time, I like most people, go to shows completely sober. I look down on people who get to fucked up at shows, they dont know theyre being obnoxious, the girls that theyre trying to grind on hate it, and it just sets the wrong tone for the vibe. Ok, thats it, Im gonna cut my rant short and draw to a close now. You should go to an electronic show Jason, you’d probably like it….PLUR
Oh and here’s a dubstep song that was completely recomposed into what some would call “normal” Flux Pavilion on Mista Jam’s Maida Vale sessions: Daydreamer ft. example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evdx1_g5Aec
